When is Enough truly Enough?

We are all, for the most part, seasoned career-minded professionals. We have painstakingly paid our tolls and have climbed the various ladders in our career paths toward a layer of success.
However, when is it time to make a change or “jump ship?” You begin to have gnawing thoughts in the back of your mind. Some of these tell-tale signs:
·         You are bored with what you are doing
·         You do not feel challenged in your position
·         You dread going to work each day
·         You get no sense of satisfaction or reward out of what you are bringing to a company/organization
·         You feel trapped
·         You see no opportunity for growth
·         You feel that your job is your life
If you have selected 1 or more of the items above, then it may be time for a new opportunity. Several of us have been fortunate enough to dabble in various pathways throughout our career and may not be stuck with daily operations, commercial, marketing, segmentations, board reporting etc., as the only things we can do.

If that’s the case, then it’s time to change the way we think.

We may be fantastic at what we do, but are we happy? Do we feel a sense of reward and achievement from our position (and I am not referring to financial rewards and achievements). We can make large sums of income and be absolutely miserable.

One thing I recommend to friends and colleagues is to take some personal time at least once every two to three years and do some self-evaluation. Are you where you thought you would be, are you happy, and are you successful, or do you find yourself in all the places that were listed earlier in bullet format? If so, then it is time to make a new blueprint for yourself. It is time to change the way you think, change the way you do things. The world does not bend for us—but as strongly motivated thinkers and doers, we can change our perceptions, our pathways, and become happy, successful, accomplished individuals.
