Due to circumstances beyond my control, I haven’t been able to enjoy a Cigar smoke for a while. In my back mind, I always keep this pleasant moment when I smell my Cigar, smoke it and enjoy its taste. I thought maybe I’d give some experience info I have owned when it comes to Cigar Smoke etiquette.
Unlike cigarette smokers, cigar smokers are expected to maintain a certain level of dignity and respect while smoking. After all, it is a lifestyle rather than a habit. There has always been a sort of prestige that goes with smoking premium cigars. Some few tips from people I know and places that I visited who dedicate their lives to making sure we get to enjoy our sticks in comfortable surroundings.
Cigar Smoke atmosphere: In the modern world, we have many Cigar smoking options. Many lounges dedicated to the relaxation of the Cigar smokers. The owners and managers of these stores spend thousands of dollars making sure we have comfortable seating, good ventilation and an all-around relaxing atmosphere. And this is what we called, as Cigar Smoker, our own backyard that we do must enjoy all time. No matter, the time we spend on our smoke, with friend, group of friends or alone. It is always this moment of taste between you, your Cigar and the Cigar lounge atmosphere.
Respectful atmosphere: One of the great things about the cigar lifestyle is the ever-growing Cigar friendship. We love being social with one another, talking everything from cigars to politics to religion to sports and beyond. However, many people don’t want to hear the latest
joke about the prostitute and the priest or a friend and his potty mouth. This isn’t to say you can’t tell these jokes, but keep them quiet and within your own little group that likes to hear them. Many of us take our own fantasies into the lounge or Cigar smoke area with us and would prefer they not be subjected. The cigar world is not just a boys club. You should always be mindful of the other people in the Cigar room area and show them the respect you would like to be shown. It just makes for a more pleasant experience for everyone involved.
Clean your mess: We all drop ashes, it’s just a part of smoking cigars. Take two seconds to put your wrapper in the garbage can and, if you don’t save the bands, do the same with your banding. The more we clean up after our smoking, the more willing people will give us this dignity look as Cigar smokers. It is not another cigarette ashes, it is a Cigar ashes. To keep it simple, treat your Cigar Ashes as you treat you Cigar taste.
Know-it-alls: This is a touchy subject, because many people (myself occasionally included) don’t realize they’re even doing it. The easiest way I’ve found to curtail myself from this habit is to simply not answer unless asked. If you see someone not toasting before they light, don’t point it out to them. They may like their smoke to burn uneven, or maybe it’s the way their grandpa taught them to smoke. Some people will ask you for tips, and it’s perfectly fine to give them advice – as long as they’ve asked for it or if there is a round-table type discussion going on. In the event of a group conversation, give your input, but be willing to yield the floor to the next person with a tip. You may just learn something you didn’t already know and I do learn more Cigar tips all the time.
If it seems like I’m trying to look like a Cigar smoker expert, I apologize. I’m simply trying to make the Cigar smoke experience a pleasant one for everyone involved. Let’s all do our part to keep this lifestyle one full of pleasantries and inviting to the next generation as the generations before us have.
Smoke in good times and enjoy your good brand.
